It is important to do a self-assessment when considering adopting a child with special needs.

  • Which types of disabilities are we prepared to handle?

  • Do we have the resources and/or insurance to support a child with special needs?

  • Does our community have medical, educational or supportive resources available?

We encourage prospective adoptive parents to do thorough research on the types of challenges to ensure you have a clear understanding of the ability to care for a child with specials needs.
